Washington, D.C. – Today, former President Donald Trump said that abortion rights should be left to the states. Trump has previously bragged about installing extreme right-wing justices who overturned Roe v. Wade, said that there should be punishment for women who get abortions if they become outlawed, and recently suggested he’d support a 15-week federal abortion ban.
Senator Fetterman released the following statement in response:
“Donald Trump is the architect of curtailing the reproductive freedom for tens of millions of American women. He needs to own this and be held accountable.”
Senator Fetterman is a cosponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023, which would restore reproductive rights and access to medication abortions to Americans who live in states with abortion bans. He also supports scrapping the filibuster to get it done.
